If I went into my first speed challenge with zero expectations, this time I was on a mission. As with the first round I didn’t know what the image would be before the timer started, but regardless of the puzzle I was going to finish it this time. I borrowed some noise-cancelling headphones and prepared a playlist with music from two movie scores I knew quite well so I would have an idea of the time that elapsed without having to look up from the puzzle. I made sure I was hydrated, gave myself a little pep talk before starting, and dove right in.

As soon as I saw the puzzle image I got quite confident, but cautiously so. Puzzles that look easy can sometimes be a lot trickier than they look. Still, I would consider this one a difficulty level below “Evening in Pisa”. The clear separation of colours made it very quick to sort the pieces and focus on one section at a time. The yellow flowers by far gave me the most trouble, but I was happy with my strategy and managed to keep a steady pace throughout.

And so, with these lovely flowers I completed my first speed challenge with 13 minutes and 30 seconds to spare! I was absolutely delighted with my success and excited for the next opportunity to try again. Fortunately, that would come a few days later.
