My 3rd and final circular puzzle for the year was a ton of fun and just the right amount of challenging. I wasn’t convinced at the idea of round puzzles but now I’m firmly on board and will most certainly be trying more circulars in the future. This one was actually a bit trickier than I expected. It’s fairly easy to separate the pieces by colour, but there are a lot of fishes, and it was sometimes difficult make heads or tails of them when they look the same on all the pieces. To add to the challenge, the fish in the blue section have yellow and orange features, and the fish in the orange corner have a lot of blue features. Fortunately, the turtle was pretty easy to assemble and the waves on the border helped to give everything some structure while I tried to make sense of the different fish species. I was worried about the octopus but once I got all the pieces together it didn’t take too long to put together. The central coral structure was a ton of fun, but I had a hard time picking out the pieces that make it up. On a future attempt, I would probably pick these pieces out first and build a solid foundation that I can build around of instead of working from the outside in, which is roughly what I did this time. Still, I’m quite happy with my time, which is only 2 minutes higher than the average. In fact, I’m about 8 minutes below the average when just factoring in 1st attempts. I’ll take that as a solid win!
