I was only going to complete one speed challenge this weekend, but on Sunday my partner and I went to look for more puzzles. I told him to pick out a 500-piece Ravensburger without showing it to me and to hide it in his bag after purchasing it. As we finished browsing the mall, he kept telling me how happy he was with his choice, and so with our combined impatience the reveal happened that very afternoon. I still had good lighting, but my work desk/puzzling table gets direct sunlight in the afternoon, and I decided I prefer indirect lighting for my challenges.

This challenge really lived up to its name! I was very excited by the image as soon as I opened the bag, but also a bit daunted by trying to separate the pieces. I kept with my last strategy of flipping first and sorting later, and started with the very bottom of the puzzle where there seemed to be the most of the same colour grouped together. Once that was done though, I wasn't sure where to go next! I picked out the yellow pieces, but it was hard to tell whether it came from the armchair, the floor, or the lady in the awesome disco outfit. Should I pick out the orange curtains? Sure, but there are orange curtains all over the scene, and every single piece was incredibly busy. Still, I kept my cool and managed to finish with 18 minutes to spare. It’s a bit slower than my previous challenge, but still well within the allowed time. My plans keep changing, but I’ll likely be doing a 500-piece speed challenge every week so I can practice on a regular basis.
